Plein-Air Oceanic Art
Bill Shark, MD
He captures the kinetic energy of surfing... the waves' beauty, peace and hydraulic power.
Born & raised in Ocean Beach/Point Loma, he started surfing in 1961 and painting as a grom.
He spent his young adulthood in Del Mar, surfing at the local spots and attending school at UCSD, becoming a Doctor.
His love of surfing led him to spend much time in his favorite surfing spot in Poipu, Kauai.Inspired by Hawaiian sunrises, sunsets and surfers, his attention turned back to the art form he always loved, painting.
He paints with an airbrush and traditional brushes, acrylics and watercolor, often utilizing metallics and shimmers to capture the light reflected in the waves.
